According to research, the origins of Vacation Bible School can be traced back to the 19th century. At Focus Church, we think it's time for a 21st century summer event for kids that will change the way kids and parents view VBS forever!
Introducing the solution: SUMMER EXPLOSION!!
Summer Explosion is an annual, FREE mini-kids camp for ages 4 through 5th grade that is packed full of crazy games, awesome music, relevent teaching and action-packed team competition. Simply put, it's: FUN, FRIENDS & GOD!!

Summer Explosion, now in its 4th year in Sun Prairie, is imagined and created by Burst, the Children's Ministry of Focus Church. An amazing volunteer team of almost 50 people will work tirelessly to make Summer Explosion the best it can be for the kids. This event is offered for free and we are able to do that with the generous support of Focus Church, business partners and many private sponsors.
2025 Summer Explosion Theme
Each year we theme Summer Explosion with a fun, imaginative theme, straight out of our kid's culture. This year's theme will be a fun adaptation of the popular movie "The Lego Movie." It will be bricks everywhere as we ask the question, "Are you the special?" Join us as we discover the original "mini-figure" in the Bible, Zacchaeus, and how Jesus changed his heart.

We want as many kids as possible to attend this life-changing camp, so this year, we are increasing our capacity by offering two simultaneous Summer Explosion Camps! When you register, make sure you pick the camp that best fits your child.

Who?
Summer Explosion is for kids 3 years of age through 5th grade (completed). There will be two Summer Explosion events happening simultaneously on our campus. There will be one for Upper Preschoolers (ages 4 through 5) and one for Elementary (grades K-5 completeed). Each will feature age-appropriate teaching and fun. We will combine all our age groups at the end of each evening for our finales.
When?
This year, Summer Explosion will be Tuesday, June 17, 2025 through Thursday, June 19, 2025. Each evening's event will be from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM.
Where?
Summer Explosion will be held on the campus of Focus Church, located at 411 N Thompson Road Sun Prairie WI 53590.
Focus Church is conveniently located next to both Royal Oaks Elementary School and Prairie View Middle School.
How Much?
Did we mention FREE? Your child will receive a FREE Summer Explosion T-Shirt when they show up on the first day. This event is offered for free to the kids of Sun Prairie, thanks in part to generous donations from our sponsors.
There will also be free snocones at the end of each evening in the parking lot.
Can I Trust You?
We take the safety and security of your child seriously while they are in our care. We use a computerized check-in system to make sure kids leave with the person that dropped them off. All volunteers have been background checked and can be identified by their picture IDs. There are registered nurses on hand in case of the occasional bump and bruise. Finally, all activities are closely monitored by the watchful eyes of our security team.

We want the fun of Summer Explosion to last a little longer, so we are taking over the weekend services at Focus Church. So... parents get to experience the fun services with their kids the following weekend.

Meet our 2025 Summer Explosion Speakers
Ryan Foldhazi
Children's Pastor
Pastor Ryan will be speaking at our Elementary Summer Explosion (grades 1 - 5). He's a crazy guy when he gets on stage, but is also a creative artist and a techie. He loves to shop for and build computers, watch TV, and play video games with his kids. Ryan has been an Elementary Children's Pastor for 17 years and has 5 kids of his own.
ShaLe Foldhazi
Lead Pastor
Pastor ShaLe will be speaking at our Preschool Summer Explosion (ages 4 - Kindergarten). She's a lot of fun, is great with preschoolers and is really good at organizing things and keeping things on track. She loves to shop, cook, eat out and be a mom. ShaLe has been an Early Childhood Children's Pastor for 17 years and has 5 kids of her own.

We feel that Summer Explosion is so different from any other summer kids event that you must experience it in order to understand it. Take some time to see what Summer Explosion has been like for the past few years to get an idea of what this year's event may be like.
